SHEBOYGAN -- Sheboygan police say a 28-year-old man was cited with drunk driving, speeding, operating without insurance and operating without a motorcycle license after crashing his motorcycle down an embankment near N. 3rd Street early Friday morning.
The Sheboygan Police Department says they received numerous 911 calls around 2 a.m. regarding a motorcycle crash near N. 3rd Street and Clifton Avenue.
Investigators say the 28-year-old Sheboygan man was driving his motorcycle northbound on N. 3rd Street when he lost control of the motorcycle while traveling around a slight curve in the road. Officials say the motorcycle slide on its side, struck the curb and street sign post and then slide 40 feet down an embankment towards Lake Michigan.
Police say the 28-year-old driver was standing at the top of the embankment when officers arrived on the scene. The man was transported to the Sheboygan Medical Center to be treated for his injuries.
The driver claims to have been wearing his helmet, however, officials say the helmet was found lying in the street when they arrived on the scene.
Police say the 28-year-old man was cited for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated, unreasonable and imprudent speed, operation without insurance and operation a motorcycle without motorcycle license endorsement.
