Man cited for drug paraphernalia after making threat at circus event

WASHINGTON COUNTY -- Washington County Sheriff's officials say a man was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia after apparently making a threat during a circus event Monday, May 21st at the Washington County Fair Park grounds.

Officials say a circus event was being held on the grounds Monday evening, and the owner flagged down a sergeant to report threats being made by an unknown subject.

The owner stated that several people representing PETA, (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) had been protesting the circus.  The owner stated that the protest was not the issue, but that a male person from the group had threatened to burn the circus property.

The owner pointed out a car that was about to leave the grounds.

The sergeant stopped the car and identified the two occupants.  The male occupant was identified as the one who made the threat, but the circus owner did not wish to pursue any charges.

During the investigation, the sergeant located in the male suspect's pocket, a marijuana pipe.  The suspect was warned for disorderly conduct and received a citation for possession of drug paraphernalia.
