Man helping friend search for mom following temple shooting

OAK CREEK -- FOX6 News spoke with Perry Singh on the scene of a shooting at the Sikh Temple in Oak Creek Sunday morning, August 5th. Singh said a close friend of his was searching for his mother -- the whereabouts of whom they couldn't confirm, following the shooting.

Singh said his friend was allowed in the nearby bowling alley, where Singh told FOX6 News women and children inside the Sikh Temple had reportedly been evacuated.

"I am hoping she is fine and we can see her as soon as possible," Singh said.

Singh said he has heard a few other stories of individuals searching for loved ones following the shooting.

Police said Sunday, August 5th seven people are dead, including a gunman, and three others are injured following a shooting at the Sikh Temple in Oak Creek.

A high-ranking member of the Sikh community has said two of the dead are the equivalent of "priests" in the temple.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) Chicago division said the gunman was a white man in his 40s. Officials have not yet released the name of the gunman.

Three adult men were taken to Froedtert Hospital with gunshot wounds. Two had surgery Sunday, and one had a "complex procedure." As of Sunday night at 9:00 p.m., all three remained in critical condition.
