Mark Mone selected to serve as UW-Milwaukee's interim chancellor
MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee has announced Mark Mone will serve as the university's interim chancellor.
Mone is currently the Assistant Dean of the Lubar School of Business. Mone has been with UWM since 1989.
Mone will replace outgoing chancellor Michael Lovell. Lovell is leaving in August to become the President of Marquette University.
Mone says he's not taking the job just to be a stop-gap until a permanent leader is found -- but rather, to move the university forward.
"This is no time to take our foot off the gas pedal. In fact, if we let off at all, we will fall behind. We will not be able to stay in the all competitive race that we have today on research -- on our students' success in a number of different fronts," Mone said.
Mone will succeed Lovell at UWM following commencement in May.
The UW System Search Committee is searching for a full-time chancellor.
