Fatal wrong-way vehicle crash on I-43/94 in Milwaukee; 2 dead

Two people are dead after a crash involving at least one wrong-way vehicle on I-43/94 in Milwaukee early Saturday Morning, Feb. 1.

Court filings said 34-year-old Alexandria Hampton admitted she was the driver of the white Mitsubishi and that she struck the victim with her car. She said the victim had run out into the street and it was an accident.

The accident was captured on surveillance. Prosecutors said it showed Hampton's car "appears to be traveling at a high rate of speed compared to other traffic." The victim was seen crossing Wells Street, not at a crosswalk, and was almost all the way across when she was hit. She flew roughly three feet from the impact.
