Marquette community gathers in prayer for peace in Westowne Square

MILWAUKEE -- The Office of Mission and Ministry, Campus Ministry, Center for Peacemaking, and the Office of Diversity and Inclusion, invited the Marquette community to gather in prayer on Monday, August 15th in Westowne Square. This, after several incidents of civil unrest occurred in Milwaukee over the weekend.

Staff, students and even those in the community gathered on campus hoping to find and bring peace to the city. They say prayer is just the first step to finding a solution.

"This is our call is to begin with a prayer for peace today. But then tomorrow, even this afternoon, think about what we can actually do to address the problems," said William Wellburn, Marquette University.

Marquette University officials say they will have a number of campus discussions on racial justice this year. Those will also be open to the community.
