Massie sentenced to four years prison for officer attack
RACINE (WITI) -- A Racine County judge sentenced 29-year-old Shamikia Massie to four years in prison plus five years of extended supervision on Friday afternoon, February 8th.
Massie was accused of trying to kill a police officer by swinging a butcher knife at him in April 2012.
The criminal complaint in this case says police were called to the woman’s apartment in April. The building manager told officers he had received numerous calls about a fight in the apartment. Massie partially opened her door, but refused to let officers in her apartment while cursing and yelling.
One officer pushed the door open. The complaint says Massie swung an eight-inch butcher knife at him, missed, and the knife plunged into a closet door. The officer punched her in the face and grabbed the knife.
Massie’s children were in the apartment, but were not harmed.
The first-degree attempted homicide charge against Massie was amended in December 2012 to first-degree recklessly endangering safety while armed with a weapon.
