Maxwell Street Days: Giant rummage sale to benefit Cedarburg Fire Department, "a worthwhile cause"
CEDARBURG -- Maxwell Street Days is a tradition of the Cedarburg Fire Department, and the volunteer department's major fundraiser. The first of four Maxwell Street Days events was held Sunday, May 29th at Firemen's Park in Cedarburg.
Maxwell Street Days, where "one man's trash is another man's treasure," is in its 50th year!
It's the place to find a good deal -- as long as you arrive early!

The event began at 6:00 a.m. and ran until 2:00 p.m.
"When I got here at 5:30, the line to get in was over a block long," Kim Gordon, Cedarburg Fire Department deputy chief said.

By 9:00 a.m., Jon Shipley had sold a lot of his favorite collectibles.
"It`s always fun to meet other people who have the same hobby that I do and you make them happy as well," Shipley said.
The Cedarburg Fire Department consists of volunteers that rely on your generous donations. Because of you, a brand new $700,000 fire truck will be delivered in July.
"It`s important for technology to stay updated to be a top notch fire department," Gordon said.

The rig was purchased with cash -- and zero taxpayer dollars. The purchase was made possible thanks to fundraisers like Maxwell Street Days.
"It is so exciting. It`s kind of like having a one-ton baby!" Gordon said.
Dawn Smith shows up to shop at Maxwell Street Days to support the fire department.
"The fire department is a very worthwhile cause. I know some of the people that work there. They`re really nice people," Smith said.
