Mayor Barrett's "Walk 100 Miles in 100 Days" challenge begins for second year
MILWAUKEE -- On Monday, June 1st, Milwaukee Mayor announced his "Walk 100 Miles in 100 Days" challenge will begin for its second year.
Residents of all ages are encouraged to add physical activity to their daily routines for the next 100 days.
Last year's participants logged more than 26,000 miles walking.
The challenge began Monday with a warm-up by the YMCA before Mayor Barrett led a walk downtown.
"By walking you get a better sense of all the things that are going on, and it's just more fun. It's a great way to break up the day. It's relaxing, so wherever you are get out there and walk, walk for 20 minutes," Mayor Barrett said.
Participants Monday also enjoyed healthy snacks and a chance to win raffle prizes.
