MILWAUKEE - Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett on Saturday, March 13 reflected on the extraordinary efforts of Milwaukeeans who have helped fight COVID-19 on all fronts. Saturday marked one year since the pandemic hit Milwaukee.
Barrett said he is looking forward to the city being safe enough to hold large-scale events and hopes venues will be able to host events by the end of 2021.
"Obviously we're making progress," Barrett said. "The health department is carefully watching the indicators, and we remain optimistic that we can make some adjustments if the trends continue."
To date, 1,068 people have died from coronavirus-related complications in Milwaukee County alone. Just over 98,000 people have tested positive for the virus.
