Mayor Tom Barrett hospitalized with exhaustion
MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- FOX6 News has learned Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett on Sunday, December 8th received medical treatment for exhaustion.
Mayor Barrett on Sunday marked his 60th birthday.
He completed a 20-kilometer run on Sunday -- an organized run indoors at the Pettit Ice Center that concluded around mid-day.
Mayor Barrett was taken to Froedtert Hospital where a series of tests were conducted. Healthcare professionals concluded Mayor Barrett was dehydrated and showing other signs of over-exertion.
Mayor Barrett will stay overnight at Froedtert, and anticipates returning home on Monday and eating his share of cake and ice cream one day late.
A statement from Mayor Barrett's office says the Mayor runs daily, but Sunday's run was significantly longer than his typical outing.
