MCSO: Report of shots fired on stretch of I-894 may have been backfiring vehicle

MILWAUKEE -- A portion of I-894 was shut down at the Forest Home Avenue off-ramp from 11:39 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 6 to 12:55 a.m. Monday, Oct. 7 following reports of shots fired.

The Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office (MCSO) responded to the scene. Deputies closed the interstate’s westbound lanes at W. Forest Home Ave. to facilitate a sweep of the interstate.

The results of the sweep were negative, and further investigation produced no evidence.

Additional information reported to MCSO suggests that a vehicle may have repeatedly back-fired while traveling on the interstate in this vicinity.
