MCSO: Shots fired at vehicle cause closure of I-94 EB near Miller Park, suspect in custody



MILWAUKEE -- The Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office closed eastbound I-94 near the Stadium Interchange around 9:30 a.m. Saturday, April 25 due to a report of a vehicle being struck by gunfire.

Authorities say they spoke to the person who called in the incident after his vehicle was shot at. He said that while headed eastbound on I-94 near 35th street when another car pulled alongside him and fired three or four shots, striking his car as they continued driving.

Investigators found three shell casings and information on the suspect vehicle. A short time later, investigators found the vehicle and later took a suspect into custody without incident.

“Let me be clear, discharging a firearm on the freeway will not be tolerated and will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law," Milwaukee County Sheriff Earnell Lucas said. "I urge any individual who thinks they can discharge a weapon on the interstate system to think again, because the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office will exhaust every measure available to us to identify you and bring you to justice.”
