Medical College trustees approve two new campuses
MILWAUKEE (AP) -- Medical College of Wisconsin trustees have voted to move ahead with establishing two community-based medical education campuses in Wisconsin.
The campuses will be located in Green Bay and central Wisconsin. The Medical College has a goal of admitting its first group of students in the summer of 2015.
Regional health systems, academic institutions and civic and business leaders in Green Bay and central Wisconsin will partner with the Medical College in developing the campuses. The college says a key to the success of the campuses is the commitment of the regional health systems to create residency programs.
Gov. Scott Walker issued the following statement in related to the Medical College's plan:
The cost of creating the campuses is about $23 million. College spokeswoman Maureen Mack says the specific central Wisconsin site has not yet been determined.
