Medical examiner: 2-year-old girl killed in shooting near 105th and Daphne

MILWAUKEE -- A 2-year-old girl was fatally shot near 105th Street and Daphne Street in Milwaukee Tuesday evening, July 21.

Police said the girl succumbed to her injuries while being transported to the hospital after the shooting shortly before 7:30 p.m.

The circumstances leading up to the shooting are under investigation, police said.

"We're tired of seeing our children's lives snuffed away from them," said Leslie Brand, witness. "It's too early, too soon. They haven't had a chance to live and experience life, and they need that."

An autopsy was scheduled for Wednesday.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Milwaukee police at 414-935-7360 or Milwaukee Crime Stoppers at 414-224-TIPS or P3 Tips App.

Statement of Common Council President Cavalier Johnson:

"Last night (Tuesday, July 21) in the 2nd District, a 2-year-old girl was the victim to a fatal shooting on the 6600 block of N. 105th St. First, I would like to express my condolences to the victim’s family. No family should have to witness the loss of their child, nor should a child be the victim of deadly violence.

On behalf of the community, I can express the sheer outrage caused by this senseless act. In 2020 thus far, the majority of homicides have been the result of fatal shootings. The loss of life in our community from gun violence is unacceptable and I am outraged and saddened that it has taken such a young life last night.

The events leading up to the shooting are under investigation. Anyone with any information should contact Milwaukee Police at (414) 935-7360 or Milwaukee Crime Stoppers at (414) 224-TIPS or P3 Tips App.

For anyone who could benefit from talking about this crime or other issues with a professional, please call the Trauma Line at (414) 257-7621."
