Medical Examiner's Office confirms three deaths believed to be connected to winter storm
MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office is investigating the deaths of three people believed to be connected to this weekend's winter storm.
The first was a 69-year-old Shorewood man. William Starr was found dead Sunday, February 1st by his wife, who looked outside and saw him on the ground after he had been shoveling. Paramedics administered CPR, but it was unsuccessful. He was pronounced dead shortly after 3:00 p.m. Sunday. The Medical Examiner's Office says he had a heart history -- having suffered a heart attack and a stroke in the past.
The second was a 62-year-old West Allis man, who was pronounced dead just after 11:00 p.m. Sunday, February 1st. We're told Thomas Scheller collapsed while snow blowing. Paramedics administered CPR, but it was unsuccessful. The Medical Examiner's Office says he had a history of high blood pressure and high cholesterol, and he had been complaining of left shoulder pain.
The third was a 64-year-old Milwaukee man. According to the Medical Examiner's report, the man was brought to St. Francis Hospital. He was declared brain dead around 3:30 p.m. Monday, February 2nd. As of Monday night, organ donation was taking place at St. Francis Hospital.
A foot of snow fell at General Mitchell International Airport as the winter storm pushed through beginning Saturday night, January 31st and continuing into Sunday night, February 1st.
