MENOMONEE FALLS -- Firefighters in Menomonee Falls responded to a house fire around 9:30 Sunday morning, April 22nd near Joper Road and Erika Road.

Firefighters say the fire started in a bedroom and they were able to keep it contained. The fire was put out in just under 10 minutes.

There was one person in the home, who was able to get out and call 911 from a neighbor's home.

"We always remind people to leave the house and go to a neighbor's and dial 911. Don't spend time calling 911 from in the house. Get out, go next door. You're safe then, and that just makes it easier for us," Menomonee Falls Fire Chief Jeff Hevey said.

Fire officials say there is heavy smoke and heat damage throughout the home.

There is no word at this time as to what caused the fire.
