Menomonee Falls police investigating security breach at Menomonee Falls High School
MENOMONEE FALLS -- Menomonee Falls police are investigating a break-in that happened at Menomonee Falls High School overnight.
On Tuesday, May 31st, Menomonee Falls High School Principal Corey Golla sent a letter to parents explaining that someone used a key to access all rooms -- including those with private materials in them.
School officials believe this was only a prank, but senior students were warned about having their graduate privileges taken away if they were involved, or if the pranks continue.
Below is the letter from Principal Golla:
Dear Students and Families,
This morning we learned that someone had gained access to the building overnight. This was not a forced entry. It appears that someone gained access to the building and also used a key to access all rooms in the building including some containing confidential materials. While it appears this was intended as a prank it was a significant security breach. We live in a time when we cannot take the security of our schools lightly.
We are partnered with the Menomonee Falls Police department in investigating this breach, and the MFPD helped us sweep the building prior to the start of the school day to assure the safety of all of our students and staff. The police are also involved in our investigation. We are accessing the footage from our security cameras as part of that investigation.
While this was likely intended as a prank we take the security of our building seriously. We have regularly warned our students about the consequences of breaching that security. I am sending this message to let families know that school consequences will be issued if we identify any of our students involved. Our partners with the MFPD will likely issue consequences as well. Seniors have already been warned that their participation in graduation is a privilege and not a right. That right can be removed in this present case as well as any future pranks that disrupt our learning environment or place student and staff safety at risk. Please support us by continuing to discuss our concerns and the potential consequences of involvement in these activities.
Respectfully,
Corey Golla
Principal
