Menomonee Falls school book ban; people voice support, opposition

The Menomonee Falls School District banned 33 books from the high school's library. People spoke about it at a school board meeting days later.

It's the only book at the 4K level representing LGBTQ+ families.

At the meeting, the group "Grassroots Menomonee Falls Area" spoke out against the book ban at the meeting, along with parents and students that disagreed with the ban.

"I've seen and heard students that bully other students for being in the LGBTQIA community. More recently, a peer in my class has become a shell of himself and has become suicidal from the comments he is getting regarding his sexuality from classmates. These problems are created from issues like these and will continue to get worse," said one person during the public comment.

Those against the ban want more than 30 other books also returned to the shelves.
