Milwaukee armed carjacking; defendant ID'd based on his appearance: police

Naquan Thompson

A 24-year-old Milwaukee man is accused of carjacking a man on the city's north side in November. The accused is Naquan Thompson.

According to the criminal complaint, Milwaukee police spoke to a man who agreed on Sunday, Nov. 10 to give a drive home for a man known as "Juju." He took "Juju" in his 2012 Volkswagen Jetta, who directed him to drive to the area near 25th and Burleigh.

After the victim and "Juju" got to 25th and Burleigh, the complaint says "Juju" told the victim to drive to "Juju's" grandmother's house. "Juju" indicated he did not know his grandmother's address- but was going to direct the driver there. While doing this, near 28th and Chambers, the complaint says "Juju" pulled out a handgun, pointed it at the victim, and told him not to panic. "'Juju' demanded (the victim's) money, but (the victim) did not have any money. 'Juju' reached over from the passenger seat, put the car in park, turned off the car, and told (the victim) to get out of the car. (The victim) asked if he could at least keep his phone, but 'Juju' threatened him and started counting down from ten. (The victim) then got out of the car and 'Juju' drove the car away," the complaint says.

Investigators conducted multiple interviews and developed Naquan Thompson as a possible suspect, based on "Juju's" appearance, "specifically his face tattoos," the complaint says.

On Dec. 18, officers responded to the defendant's address. When they arrived, there was a silver 2012 Volkswagen Jetta in the driveway. Officers identified it as the victim's car "based on a sticker on the rear window and the vehicle's Illinois license plate," the complaint says.

Investigators spoke with the defendant's mother at the location. She stated she did not know whose car that was in her driveway and wished to have it towed. Officers searched the car and confirmed it belonged to the victim. The defendant's mother did not allow officers inside to see if the defendant was home.

The complaint says on Dec. 29, 2024, the defendant was arrested. In an interview the next day, Thompson "stated he bought the Jetta from a guy named 'Bubba' for $1,200 without a title," the complaint says.
