MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee County Sheriff's officials have released the results of a DUI initiative that involved increased patrols over the New Year's Eve holiday weekend.
Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke ordered increased patrols beginning on Thursday, December 31st, 2015 through Sunday, January 3rd, 2016.
The New Year’s Eve initiative focused on keeping the public safe from drunk drivers.
One repeat offender, and 14 first time offenders were arrested this weekend.
From Thursday at 2:00 p.m. through Sunday at 6:00 a.m., the Sheriff’s Office enforcement initiative resulted in the following arrests, citations, and calls for service:

3 Seat belt violations
47 Excessive speed citations
19 Unlicensed/ revoked/ suspended drivers
42 Other moving violations
14 DUIs
7 Crashes with property damage
4 Personal injury crashes
0 Fatal crashes
1 Drunk driving related crash
16 Warrant arrests
4 Summary arrests
New Year’s Eve/New Year's Day stats – (These are included in the weekend totals above):
Eight drunken drivers arrested on the holiday -- with the first drunken driver arrested at 1:09 a.m. Friday.
The last New Year's Eve DUI arrest occurred at 7:17 a.m. on Friday. Sheriff's officials say in this case, a deputy observed subject driving in the wrong lane of traffic on City of Milwaukee streets.
