Milwaukee County Sheriff's officials safely detonate live grenade
MILWAUKEE – Milwaukee County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a call from Beaver Dam Police Department regarding a grenade, 20 mm military round, and ammunition that were brought to their agency for disposal.
MCSO Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit (EOD) technicians took X-rays of the grenade and found that it was a live grenade.
It was taken to a remote area where it was rendered safe. The ammunition was removed and stored for future destruction.
Sheriff's officials recommend citizens call for assistance when they find potentially explosive devices, rather than transporting them to law enforcement agencies themselves.
Officials say the best course of action is to avoid touching the device or ammunition, and call your local police department. They can then handle coordinating the safe removal of these items.
