Milwaukee County Sheriff's officials, SE WI OWI Task Force officials release St. Patrick's Day arrest numbers

MILWAUKEE COUNTY (WITI) -- Milwaukee County Sheriff's deputies made a total of 164 traffic stops in an effort to stop and arrest drunk drivers on St. Patrick's Day. Among those stopped -- two drunken drivers were arrested; one of them a repeat offender.

The St. Patrick’s Day Enforcement Operation began Tuesday, March 17th at 6:00 a.m. through 6:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 18th. The first DUI arrest during the initiative occurred at 3:06 a.m. Tuesday.  The last arrest occurred at 2:17 a.m. Wednesday.

A total of 152  citations were issued in the following categories:


    Southeastern Wisconsin OWI Task Force officials say 36 people were arrested for OWI during St. Patrick's Day deployments.

    121 law enforcement officials were deployed during this initiative, and they made contact with 735 people.
