The DPW had more than 100 trucks out on Thursday morning to pretreat with brine, particularly on residential streets. Crews said, once the snow starts to stick, they will get busy on the main roads.
Another challenge, the DPW said, is that residents have more cars than in previous years with nowhere to park them.
Milwaukee DPW treats roads during Thursday snowfall
"The closer they can get to a curb, the easier it is for us to get through the street, especially this evening when we’re going to have to mount plow blades and push snow to the curb," said the DPW's Jeff Kluslow.
The DPW is also asking drivers to give plows plenty of room on the road.
The city is reminding everyone to follow winter parking rules.
Cars cannot park overnight on main thoroughfares. There are some exceptions with alternate-side parking; follow posted regulations and check the city's website before parking on Thursday night.
