Milwaukee 'El Grito' Hispanic Heritage Month event

MILWAUKEE - Milwaukee's "El Grito" event Sunday, Sept. 17 celebrated Mexican independence from Spain and Hispanic Heritage Month.

"El grito" refers to "El Grito de Dolores," the battle cry given by Miguel Hidalgo in Mexico on Sept. 16, 1810.

The celebration in Milwaukee included local vendors, performers and a costume contest.

Hispanic Heritage Month runs until Oct. 15.
