MILWAUKEE - A Milwaukee mother was shot and killed outside of her home on the city’s north side on Monday, April 1.
On Tuesday, April 2, Milwaukee police said a suspect, a 52-year-old man, was arrested in connection to the incident, and that charges are pending review by the Milwaukee County District Attorney's Office.
The victim’s family said she was a hardworking mother of eight who was gunned down after dropping her kids off at school.
Milwaukee police say a 42-year-old woman was fatally shot on N 18th Street near Hadley around 7:30 a.m. Family has identified the victim as LaKeyshia Timmons.

Helpless cries and screams filled the air after a home turned from a crime scene to a vigil site in less than 12 hours.

Latanillia Timmons is her oldest daughter. She said her mother had just returned home from dropping her younger siblings off at school when one of her siblings heard gunfire.
"She held it together; she was a very strong woman," she said."Iit wasn’t no dads there."

Investigators say the shooting stemmed from an argument, but family said that wasn’t in Timmons' kind-hearted nature.
"All my siblings could do was run out and hold my mama hand until she took her last breath," Timmons said. "My mama don’t argue with nobody, she don’t do drama. She stay out the way."
Willie Reed, the victim’s father, agreed.

"She called me everyday and said daddy I love you," he said.
With her youngest siblings not old enough to comprehend the tragic loss, Timmons said she’s now focused on filling the void of a mother’s love.
"Ain’t no feeling like losing your mama, your sole provider," she said. "The person who talk you through your storm."
