Milwaukee Fire Department teams up with the Bucks to help install smoke alarms

MILWAUKEE -- The Milwaukee Bucks are helping the Milwaukee Fire Department raise awareness for fire prevention. This initiative is part of Project FOCUS, or Firefighters Out Creating Urban Safety.

As part of Fire Prevention Week, Bucks players Johnny O'Bryant, Greivis Vasquez, and Greg Monroe, joined Milwaukee Fire Department Engine 28 to inspect, install and change batteries of smoke alarms in the neighborhood.

Bucks newcomer Greg Monroe was even appointed as an honorary fire chief.

"It's always important that we come out and you know, just spend time with the community, especially for a cause like this. Fire safety is a very important thing anywhere so I love that the Bucks and the Milwaukee Fire Department takes initiative to come to the neighborhood, come to the community and make sure that everybody has up-to-date fire alarms," said Monroe.

This is the 24th year that Milwaukee firefighters have gone door-to-door to check for working smoke alarms in the neighborhoods they serve.
