Milwaukee heavy police presence; 22nd and North
A heavy police presence was seen early Thursday morning, Oct. 17 on Milwaukee's north side.
MILWAUKEE - A 37-year-old man was arrested early Thursday morning, Oct. 17 in Milwaukee after he fired shots toward a Milwaukee Police Department squad car in the area of 22nd and North. The incident led to an hours-long standoff.
According to police, officers were patrolling in the area around 11:20 p.m. Wednesday when they heard shots fired. When police arrived at the scene, a suspect fired several shots towards the officer's squad.
An officer returned fire. No officers were injured.
A tactical setup was established. Police appeared to be focusing their efforts outside the now shutdown Milwaukee Mall. FOX6 crews at the scene spotted two SWAT trucks, two drones and heard officers issuing commands.

During a search of the building, officers located a 37-year-old man. He was arrested. At this time, it does not appear that the officer's gunfire injured anyone, police say.
As of 7:30 a.m., Thursday, police had cleared the many roads blocked off in Midtown.
Criminal charges will be referred to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office.
