Milwaukee hit-and-run crash near 34th and Lloyd; 70-year-old woman dead
MILWAUKEE - A Milwaukee woman and her grandson were just leaving a loved one's house on Saturday evening, Jan. 4. They barely made it a block before police say a reckless driver hit them.
The 70-year-old woman died in the crash. Her grandson made it out alive. But the driver of the vehicle responsible for the crash is on the run.
"I don’t have a word in my vocabulary to explain how I feel," said Charles Fair. "She was great, beautiful, big smile; beautiful person."

"I’ve been with her for 46 years," Fair said.

Charles remembers their last conversation.
"She told me she’ll see me, walked out the house... and I get a call an hour later saying she’s DOA," Fair said.
Surveillance video obtained by FOX6 News shows a portion of the hit-and-run crash Saturday night. You can see at least one car going into a front yard at 34th and Lloyd.
There was debris and car parts all over the street. The impact from the crash was so forceful, debris even landed on a nearby front porch.
Beverly and Charles Fair
Milwaukee police say it all began when a driver going north on 34th Street slammed into the car with Beverly Fair and her grandson, who was driving. Police say the driver of the striking car left the scene. Beverly Fair was critically hurt – and died at a hospital later. Her grandson survived the wreck.
"What do you have to say to the driver who ran off?" asked FOX6's Aaron Maybin.

"I pray for him. I’ve got to forgive him. I don’t like what he did for me, I don’t like what he did to my children, but I pray for him," Charles Fair said.

FOX6 News talked with Charles Fair at his church on Sunday morning. Faith helps him move forward, as police piece together this hit-and-run crash.
"She was the straw in our beverage. She kept everything going. She was my everything," Fair said. "We’re going to miss her."
