Milwaukee hospital stabbing; Edgar Padilla sentenced, 5 years prison

A Milwaukee County judge sentenced Edgar Padilla on Thursday, Dec. 12 to five years in prison plus another six years of extended supervision in connection with a stabbing inside Columbia St. Mary's Hospital this past January. 

Padilla pleaded guilty in November to a single count of first-degree reckless injury in this case. 

According to Milwaukee police, Padilla stabbed a 47-year-old hospital employee, later confirmed by Ascension to be a security guard, who was treated for non-fatal injuries. No one else was hurt.

Padilla was arrested. 

Ascension Wisconsin said the guard was injured during an altercation with the suspect, who came into the emergency department.
