A topping off ceremony was held for The Trade. It is noted to be the official hotel of the Deer District, and Milwaukee's newest landmark hotel.

"This is part of redefining downtown in such a great way," said Peter Feigin, Bucks president.

A vision coming to life, the new, nine-story luxury hotel is under construction across from Fiserv Forum

"When I look at the Trade Hotel, I look at this as a championship-caliber project," Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley said.

"Whether we are inviting visiting NBA teams, MLB teams, tourists or business travelers, this is what we need to continue to do in the city of Milwaukee," said Feigin.

Wednesday morning, workers, designers and others signed a steel beam before it was hoisted during the topping ceremony.

"It takes hands, it takes sweat, it takes backs," said Jeff Tubbs with construction company Findorff. "It’s history of trade, it’s history industry. It’s industry of construction, and really of grit."

A tour showed what workers have already done and what is yet to come.

Energy in the area can be electric during Bucks games. The goal of a spot on the hotel's second floor is to allow people to be elevated and engaged with everything going on in the Deer District."

"It’s more of boutique, experiential hotel," said Andy Inman with North Central Group.

Inman said, once complete, The Trade will have 205 rooms and suites, a restaurant, a rooftop lounge, a fitness center and more than 9,000 square feet of gathering space.

Officials speak at the topping off ceremony for The Trade hotel.

"The warm Milwaukee touch, the hospitality. We want that experience to be reflected in The Trade, too," he said.

According to a news release earlier this year, the rooms will be "smart and stylish tech-enabled" with mobile check-in and check-out, keyless entry, motion sensor lighting, internet TV in-room, abundant power and USB outlets, and fast and free Wi-Fi.

Developers said it will be a sight to see come spring 2023.
