Trayvon Singleton
MILWAUKEE - A Milwaukee County Jail inmate is accused of assaulting correctional officers during two different incidents last year. Prosecutors said he took an officer's taser during one incident, and spit on officers in another.
What we know
According to a criminal complaint, 32-year-old Trayvon Singleton "became argumentative" with another inmate in the jail's dayroom on Nov. 28. A correctional officer told them to go back to their cells, but Singleton refused.

Multiple officers responded. Prosecutors said Singleton then ran toward one of the officers, punched the officer in the face and pulled the officer's hair. He then grabbed the officer's taser and pointed it at her, but "it appeared (Singleton) was unable to activate the taser."
The officer tried to strike Singleton to "get him to comply," per the complaint, but it seemed to have "no effect" and he proceeded to repeatedly hit the officer in the head with the taser. Singleton was eventually tased and handcuffed.
Weeks later, on Dec. 12, the prosecutors said Singleton again refused an order to go back to his cell. Multiple officers responded to get him back into his cell, during which he began kicking and spitting at officers. He hit one of the officers in the back of the head as the officer was leaving the cell.
Singleton is now charged with battery by prisoner, possession of an electric weapon and two counts of assault by prisoner.
What's next
Court records show Singleton's bond was set at $15,000 in the case, and he's scheduled for a preliminary hearing on Jan. 17.
Singleton was in custody at the jail for an armed robbery case; court records the case is scheduled to go to trial later this month.
