MILWAUKEE - A motorcycle rider was killed in a Milwaukee crash Saturday afternoon, Aug. 12 near Holton and Chambers.
It was an emotional scene after the crash, which happened around 3:45 p.m. – family and friends filling the streets for hours.
"This is disheartening for me, because I know this kid," said Jose Rivera.

The medical examiner identified the rider as 18-year-old Samuel Molinar. Rivera said it was his nephew, who had just graduated from high school.
"He was a good kid. He had a good mother, she worked hard for him," Rivera said. "He told me, ‘I’m going to finish school and become something.’ He used to come by my house all the time."
Fatal motorcycle crash at Holton and Chambers, Milwaukee
According to police, a minivan van was headed north on Holton and turning right onto Chambers when the motorcycle tried to pass it on the right – colliding with the minivan's passenger side. The 18-year-old died at the scene.
The driver of the minivan, a 42-year-old Illinois man, stayed at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation, according to police.
MPD data shows 67 people died in crashes in 2021, and 77 people died in crashes in 2022. So far this year, 47 people have been killed in crashes.
