MILWAUKEE -- On a mission to thank Milwaukee's police force. Saturday, September 19th is Thank a Police Officer Day. So a group of wives and girlfriends organized to visit every police district in the city.

Thank a Police Officer Day

There are many ways to show appreciation, here's a couple good ones.

"We can just take what's left in her car to the surrounding area. To know that there are so many people that support police, just took me by surprise. I can't believe it," said Robyn Booth, MPD Hearts Behind the Badge.

A group of Milwaukee Police Department wives and girlfriends wanted to do something special for the day -- turns out, they weren't alone.

"Thank you for coming to your district," said Booth.

MPD Hearts Behind the Badge traveled the city, popping in to police districts and dropping off gratitude. District three was treated to lunch provided by Five O'Clock Steakhouse.

"We want to thank you guys for everything you do for us as spouses of police officers. We know what you guys go through everyday and what your families go through," said Booth.

The ladies also brought well wishes from area students, many writing and drawing their own notes for Milwaukee's finest.

"They are a great support system for our office. And the family support is always what we try and influence here as well," said Milwaukee Police Captain Jason Smith,

As fast as they moved in and the table was set, the ladies were off to their next district. In a city the size of Milwaukee, there are a lot of badges to thank, and they won't stop until they've thanked them all.

MPD Hearts Behind the Badge has been raising money online to pay for the goodie bags. There are more than 200 MPD spouses and significant others in the group.
