Milwaukee opens doors to sites they've never seen

MILWAUKEE -- For a second straight year, the city of Milwaukee is opening its doors, lots of doors! Historic sites around the cream city are letting visitors check out its sites during its "Doors Open Milwaukee" event.  The city-wide open house run by Historic Milwaukee Inc. is allowing people into 125 different sites for free this weekend.

Sites include everything from hotels, to office buildings, to churches, and even city hall.  Mayor Tom Barrett was there to greet visitors Saturday.

"I feel I should be here as the host if you will to welcome people to city hall," says Barrett.

"This is an unusual sight in Milwaukee and unless you come in here you've never seen this.  So, it does take your breath away," says visitor Mike Fraling.

This year Doors Open has added 45 new sites to the list.  The two-day open house allows people to see some areas that are usually off-limits, get guided tours, and see the inside of places they may walk by on a daily basis.
