MILWAUKEE - Seven teenagers were arrested in Milwaukee on Friday, Sept. 27 following a police pursuit and crash. The vehicle involved was stolen.
According to police, the pursuit began shortly before 9 p.m. in the area of Garfield and Humboldt after officers attempted to stop a vehicle that was taken in an armed robbery.
The day before
Court documents explain a Jeep Renegade was carjacked at gunpoint the afternoon before.
In front of South Ave Foods at Becher and 25th, surveillance showed two teens walking around the store, and they'd been hanging out for a while.
"This is usually a very quiet neighborhood," said Ameer Qatum with South Ave Foods. "Nothing usually like this happens around here. Especially this time of day."
Eventually, a Jeep pulls up. A search warrant explains that one of the teens hopped in the driver's seat and the other pointed a gun and got in the passenger's side and they took off.
Police chase
On Friday evening, the driver refused to stop and a vehicle pursuit ensued. The pursuit ended near Holton and Keefe after the driver collided with another vehicle.
The driver, a 17-year-old boy, along with six passengers were arrested. The passengers have been identified as two 18-year-old women, a 17-year-old boy, a 16-year-old girl, a 14-year-old girl, and a 12-year-old boy.
They were transported to a local hospital for medical clearance.
"We could tell the tires were blown out because of the sound those were making and also one of the back rear doors was hanging open," said Orin Christianson, who witnessed the chase.

A 17-year-old occupant of the vehicle that was struck was taken to the hospital for treatment of non-fatal injuries.
"You could hear the entire thing like back and forth through the neighborhood," Christianson said. "It’s uncommon, but not unexpected at this point."
Criminal charges will be referred to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office.
