MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- The Milwaukee Police Department says officers have installed 177 auto theft deterrent devices on vehicles over the past two weeks.
This is part of a new program that has the Milwaukee Police Department teaming up with Milwaukee-area car dealerships to install the devices.
Police say it's in response to a large increase in vehicle thefts this past summer.
250 auto theft deterrent devices were available -- so there are still more than 70 left.
The devices are being installed in the vehicles the Milwaukee Police Department has listed as the "most targeted" vehicles.
