Milwaukee police officer arrested after citizen complaint

MILWAUKEE -- A Milwaukee police officer was arrested on Tuesday, December 18th following his shift.

Police say the officer was investigated after a citizen complaint. Criminal charges of misconduct in public office and theft are being sought.

The officer is a 37-year-old male with eight years of service with the Milwaukee Police Department. He is currently suspended with pay -- which is standard procedure.

Common Council President Willie Hines issued this statement on Tuesday in connection with this case: "Given the many issues we face in the city and the Milwaukee Police Department, I am disappointed that a law enforcement officer would find himself in the middle of something like this. I commend the Milwaukee Police Department Internal Affairs Division on conducting the investigation and the citizen for filing the initial complaint. It is heartening to hear that the complaint system has proven itself to be effective in this case."
