WITI-TV, MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS) announce that parents can now enroll their children online from home. The service is believed to be the first of its kind in the region, and among the first in the state.
The online registration assists parents with finding the right school for their children, and makes registering as easy as a few clicks. Parents and students just click the 'online registration' button at www.milwaukee.k12.wi.us.
"This is another great way for us to connect with our families and serve them," says Superintendent Gregory Thornton. The school catalog is also online in English, Spanish and Hmong on the registration page.
MPS invites families to visit their neighborhood school, MPS charter school, specialty school or partnership school in person. The district offers strong neighborhood schools and specialty programs focused on the arts, health care, Montessori learning, college prep curriculum, the international-acclaimed IB program, technology and technical education.
Through January 27 families can register in person at schools or at Central Services located at 5225 W. Vliet Street. Bilingual assistance with registration process is available. Also, immunizations will be offered on site January 11 and 26, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. by The City of Milwaukee Health Department.
Parents can learn more about the schools at two "Great Schools" fairs, one for the South Side on January 14 at American Serb Hall, 5101 W. Oklahoma Ave, and one for the North Side January 21 at Shops of Grand Ave, N.3rd Street and W. Wisconsin Ave, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
