Shooting, crash in Milwaukee; 1 dead, 1 wounded

Milwaukee police said one man is dead and another is in critical condition after a shooting near 33rd and Center on the city's north side Saturday, Oct. 29.

One Milwaukee man is dead and another is in critical condition after a shooting and crash on the city's north side Saturday afternoon, Oct. 29.

Police said the men were shot near 33rd and Center around 2:20 p.m. A 23-year-old victim died at the scene, and a 25-year-old was taken to a hospital.

According to police, the occupants of two cars were shooting toward each other – prompting a crash. A 2-year-old girl was in one of the cars, but was not hurt. 

"I saw the little girl come out of the back window, so I grabbed her, and we just called 911," said neighbor Darren Rainey.

Rainey told FOX6 News he heard a loud "boom" – then a car ended up hitting his backyard's fence.

"I was more concerned about the little girl. I didn’t know what happened to the two guys," he said. "All I know is the little girl is OK, and I’m just happy about that…it’s just a sad situation all the way around, but little blessings always help."
