Milwaukee shooting: Boy, 2, shot near 26th and Locust

Milwaukee police say a child obtained an unsecured firearm and shot at 2-year-old near 26th and Locust Sunday morning. A woman was arrested.

A 2-year-old boy was shot and wounded near 26th and Locust on Sunday morning, March 26. Milwaukee police said the shooting happened around 4 a.m. 

The victim was taken to the hospital for treatment for a non-fatal injury. According to police, a child obtained a firearm that was not secured, and it unintentionally discharged, striking the victim.

The victim's family confirmed to FOX6 News that the 2-year-old boy is doing well. According to his family, he was shot in his left hand.

Officials said a 40-year-old Milwaukee woman is in custody. Charges are pending review by the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office.
