Milwaukee shooting; 7-year-old boy wounded near 5th and Clarke

A 7-year-old boy was shot and wounded near 5th and Clarke in Milwaukee on Sunday afternoon, July 30.

Officials say the child was shot shortly before 4 p.m. Sunday. He arrived at a nearby hospital for treatment of his injuries. 

Police say two children located an unsecured firearm and when it discharged, it and unintentionally struck the victim. 

An 11-year-old boy and a 33-year-old woman were arrested. Criminal charges will be referred to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office in the upcoming days. 

Milwaukee Police want to remind everyone to secure your firearms in a safe place and out of the reach of children.
