Milwaukee shootings Monday; 2 dead, 3 taken to hospital

Different shootings in Milwaukee on Monday, Dec. 23, left two people dead and sent two people to the hospital.

The shooting happened around 1:35 p.m.

Two unidentified individuals sustained fatal gunshot injuries. The victims were identified as a 24-year-old and a 42-year-old.

"I immediately just felt for the families," said Debra Gillispie, founder of Mothers Against Gun Violence. "Gun violence can happen anywhere."

In this case, it happened just two houses down from Gillispie.

"When you’re having some sort of altercations or differences, to kill someone is so final. You can’t take that back," Gillispie said. "There is no mending your ways. It’s final."

Investigators towed away this car, which was left with all the doors open. 

Her organization is pushing for stricter gun laws and supports families who are impacted by shootings.

"Let’s end the year with no more gun violence," she said. "That would be a blessing for all of us."

The circumstances leading up to the shooting are under investigation. The investigation is fluid and ongoing.

Police continue to seek anyone involved.

38th and Lisbon

Police said two people, ages 21 and 25, were taken to the hospital for treatment. Both are currently in custody after the early morning shooting.

No additional details have been released – including the circumstances that led to the shooting or the extent of injuries sustained.

51st and Meinecke

A 27-year-old was shot around 4:30 p.m. and went to the hospital for treatment of injuries. The circumstances leading up to the shooting are under investigation and are domestic violence-related.

Police continue to seek a known suspect.
