A 17-year-old Milwaukee girl was killed in a shooting on Wednesday. Her family said she leaves behind a 6-month-old daughter.

The shooting happened near 28th and Atkinson. The medical examiner's office identified the victim as Zaniya Booker.

Demetrius James and Ineshia Saunders are keeping their 6-month-old granddaughter, Jazayla, close. Her face reminds them of their daughter.
"This is part of my daughter," said James, Booker's father. "This is what I got left."
Booker was a junior at Shalom High School. Her parents said she had dreams of becoming a beautician or working in law enforcement. Her family told FOX6 News she was with her child's father when she was shot.

"I’m overly dramatic when it come to my kids. Period," James said. "When I get there with me seeing no ambulance, I kind of knew, so it was rough."
"Hell," said Saunders, Booker's mother. "All the mixed emotions – lost, hurt, broken, sad, confused.

Booker's family now wraps their arms around her baby girl and leans on each other as they face unimaginable pain.
"I didn’t expect to out live my daughter, and I never imagined I would lose my baby from a bullet," James said. "We taking on a lot with a newborn grandchild, also a newborn son along with us – other issues with Zaniya’s mom."
A GoFundMe online fundraiser was set up to support the family.
The family plans to honor Booker with a vigil on Feb. 4, which would have been her 18th birthday.

What's next:
Detectives haven't said what led to the shooting, only that they're still looking for the suspect. Booker's family is still waiting to find out what happened.
