Milwaukee's pension fund outperforms state, county funds in 2013
MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- The City of Milwaukee Employees’ Retirement System (CMERS) pension fund’s preliminary year-end results show the fund earned a return of 19.6 percent, gross of fees, in 2013.
Milwaukee Alderman Michael Murphy attributed the success to strong gains in the equity markets, bringing the fund’s value to $4.9 billion at year’s end.
The strong performance in 2013 means the fund has returned an average of 13.8 percent a year, gross of fees, over the past five years, outperforming its assumed rate of return.
