MISSING: Moebs' family isn't giving up hope, plan to poster Water St.

WEST MILWAUKEE (WITI) A group of John Moebs family and friends plan to meet on Water St. Friday evening, May 9th in hopes that any repeat bar goers may remember seeing him last weekend.

Officials say 33-year-old John Moebs was reported missing on Friday, May 2nd and was last seen on Water St. in downtown Milwaukee.

The hours are slowly ticking by for Scott Moebs, as he waits for any word on the fate of his brother.

"I'm very worried, the entire thing, it's extremely stressful. It's absolutely exhausting," said Scott Moebs.

John was last heard from around 3:30 a.m. Saturday morning, May 3rd when he sent a text message to his girlfriend saying he was on his way home and that he thought his nose might be broken.

"That was his last text message, now whether he received that in a fight or if he fell down and hurt himself, we're not completely clear on that," said Capt. Richard Durica, of the West Milwaukee Police Department.

John and his girlfriend started the night together before taking a cab down to Water St. around 12:30 a.m.

"The taxi driver said that he was quite intoxicated, he was too drunk to pull out his own money and his girlfriend had to do it for him," said Scott Moebs.

Somehow, the two got separated and they agreed to meet back up at home. John had texted her saying he was nearly there at about 3:30 a.m. and no one has seen or heard from him since.

Scott Moebs contacted police on Sunday, May 4th and has been out searching for his brother, along with others, since. They've plastered missing poster anywhere they think he might have gone.

"We're having the flyers translated into Spanish as well for the Spanish-speaking community in case they saw him," said Scott Moebs.

Scott Moebs says his brother has been missing for nearly a week, but family and friends aren't giving up hope.

"I don't know if there's ever a point where you say it looks really bad, you know there's been cases that have gone on for this long and it's had positive outcomes," said Scott Moebs.

Scott is asking anybody who was out last weekend to come out on Friday, May 9th to help, look at the flyers, and let the family know if anyone saw John.

The group plans to hit Water St. during peak hours on Friday. Scott says they plan to meet-up near Brother's around 10:00 or 11:00 p.m. He is also posting continuous updates on the Facebook page titled "John Moebs: Missing."

Police continue to investigate the incident.

Moebs is described as a white man, about 5’7″ tall, weighing 140 pounds with a thin build, blue eyes and short brown hair.

Moebs was last seen wearing blue jeans, a black, pin-striped, short-sleeved, button-up shirt, a black zipper hoodie, black leather Chuck Taylor Converse All-Stars — and he has a wallet chain.

Police also note that Moebs has small dragon tattoos on each shoulder — and a large jester tattoo on his shoulder blade.
