Mitchell Airport: Most flights arriving, departing as normal

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- With snow in southeastern Wisconsin on Thursday, February 7th, and a Winter Storm Warning in effect for most of the day, there were concerns of flight delays or cancellations at Milwaukee's General Mitchell International Airport.

As of 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, a Mitchell Airport spokesman told FOX6 News all runways were open at the airport. The spokesman told FOX6 News full plowing crews have been cleaning up the runways all day, and the crews planned to continue throughout the evening.

"We've had full crews going throughout the day. They've been able to keep up with the snowfall here in Milwaukee," Airport Spokesman Ryan McAdams said.

The airport spokesman told FOX6 News most flights were arriving and departing as normal. However, some flights to Chicago's O'Hare Airport were cancelled due to problems in Illinois.

Additionally, a blizzard heading toward the Northeast is expected to impact flights.

"We're expecting to start seeing impacts on flights starting tomorrow, especially tomorrow night into Saturday," McAdams said.
