Mitchell Airport sees few cancellations from Northeast blizzard
MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- While many East Coast airports remain closed following a massive blizzard Saturday, travelers were surprised to learn that their flights in and out of Milwaukee went largely unaffected.
Flight boards showed only a couple of cancellations, that affected passengers heading to New York and Boston. But, travelers did not appear to see the ripple effect that some travel experts predicted could affect travel throughout the country.
"Never saw anyone delayed. There were no flights delayed. We were hoping, we could have stayed in Orlando another day," said Eugene Londo who flew to Milwaukee from Florida.
"I was a little concerned whether or not my flight was going to get cvanceled or delayed. But I'm glad to see that it wasn't since I'm flying through to Philadelphia," said a smiling Lavaughnda Frazier.
Airlines are urging passengers to call ahead before they head out the door, while the East Coast digs out. For passengers who are affected by cancellations, travel experts say it may take a couple of days before things return to normal.
