Monday is a day for cleaning up snow in Ozaukee, Sheb. counties

OZAUKEE/SHEBOYGAN COUNTIES (WITI) -- Like many of us in southeastern Wisconsin, folks in Sheboygan and Ozaukee counties are cleaning up after the first substantial snowfall of the season.

"I really don't care about the snow. It's the bitter cold that I don't like," Jakab Mirgai said.

Miragi was busy shoveling his great-grandmother's driveway near the busy Mequon Road on Monday, December 9th, after Sunday's snowfall.

"This stuff gets really heavy because all the cars get it wet and then it gets really packed and that's the hard part," Mirgai said.

Miragi said the plows weren't much help on Monday.

"I had this done and that (plow) guy came through with the big plow and re-did it for me, so I had to re-shovel that," Miragi said.

Areas of Ozaukee County saw about six inches of snow on Sunday.

In Sheboygan, Matthew Dross and his company began shoveling out sidewalks at 5:00 a.m. Monday.

"We got a couple of crews on the north side south side and Sheboygan Falls area. I was at the Packers game all day, and I came home to maybe an inch or so," Dross said.

By morning, the Sheboygan area had about three inches of snow.

"This is actually the first time I've had the blowers out. One other time I just took out the scraper," Dross said.

In Ozaukee County, Miragi had double the amount of snow to shovel as those in Sheboygan County.

"Once you're done, you feel like it's a pride, I guess you can say. I probably have to go home and do my house after this if my parents make me. Hopefully they won't," Miragi said.
