Motorcyclist from Cudahy killed in Burlington when driver failed to yield the right of way
BURLINGTON -- Officials with the Racine County Sheriff's Office say a 56-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a crash on State Highway 83 at Pine Street Friday, July 8th.
The crash happened shortly before 10:30 a.m.
Sheriff's officials say witnesses to the crash, which included an off-duty nurse and paramedic were performing CPR on the motorcycle operator -- but those efforts were unsuccessful due to his injuries.
The crash involved the motorcycle and a tractor trailer.
An initial investigation has revealed the operator of the commercial motor vehicle was driving westbound on the bypass and was attempting to turn South onto Pine Street.
The operator of the motorcycle, a 56-year-old Cudahy man, was driving eastbound on the bypass when he collided with the truck.
At the time of the crash, the traffic signals were working properly and it appears the operator of the truck failed to yield to the right of way of the motorcycle operator.
The investigation is ongoing.
